X-ray technicians, or radiologic technicians, train to use medical imaging equipment to perform diagnostic examinations on patients. There are programs and schools all over the nation preparing students to register as radiologic technologists and for entry into the radiology field.

Lansing Community College

Lansing Community College offers a 21-month or five-semester radiologic technology program. Students who successfully complete this program obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree and earn eligibility to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) examination. Students learn subjects such as radiographic positioning and exposure, radiologic physics, and radiobiology and protection. As part of the curriculum, students must take two semesters of clinical applications with specific performance activities as well as two semesters of comprehensive experience where they gain clinical experience working under the supervision of a registered technologist.
