Use Progesterone Cream For Infertility

Sometimes, infertility can be due to a woman not having enough progesterone. The use of a progesterone cream may aid in bringing the progesterone to an appropriate level for conception. However, infertility rarely comes down to a single factor, and it isn't often a quick-fix approach that induces a pregnancy. Actually, according to the Mayo Clinic, infertility can be difficult to diagnose; it can be the woman, man or a combination of the two that affects the couple's inability to conceive.

Instructions

1. Consult with a physician. Do this before you take any steps to treat possible infertility. If you're having problems conceiving, it may have nothing to do with your progesterone level, or only partly due to your progesterone level. A doctor will be able to diagnose why you are experiencing a problem and steer you toward the ideal method for optimum fertilization.

2. If it's found that progesterone is a factor, apply 1/4 tsp. progesterone cream onto your body. If you've found your hormone levels are making it difficult for you to conceive, application should start on the day after your menstruation cycle has ended.

3. Switch areas of application every 2 to 3 days. Apply the cream to your chest, belly, inner thighs or even your inner arms. Switch areas as you use the progesterone cream. This is due to the effect the transdermal cream may have on your skin. Much like a transdermal patch, the area of application should alternate throughout its use.

4. Use the progesterone cream for about 3 weeks of that first month and then stop using to give your body a break. You're essentially supplementing the progesterone level of your body with the cream, so the level would naturally change as you would normally approach and experience menstruation.

5. Start using the cream again on the day after your menstruation cycle has ended, using the same principles of application. Continue to use the cream for about 3 months.

6. Talk to your doctor if you've become pregnant to make sure the progesterone cream you're using can be used during pregnancy. Some progesterone creams have ingredients that may not be necessarily safe for use while a woman is pregnant.
