Chi Machine Work

A chi machine is a device designed to passively exercise the body. Passive exercise requires no effort from the receiver. In the example of the chi machine, it does the work to provide the user wtih aerobic exercise to help re-oxygenate the body.


Identification


This type of exerciser is a portable electrical device that has a remote to control function of the unit. On the upper side is a padded ankle support piece that moves back and forth.


Function


The chi machine is used by lying on the floor with ankles placed on the ankle padding support part of the unit. Using the remote to control the power and speed, the device works by gently swaying the ankles back and forth in a side to side direction, which creates a ripple effect throughout the body.


Benefits


Use of a chi machine from five to 15 minutes a day may help increase circulation, ease back or other body pain, diffuse stress and potentially assist with weight loss, diabetes and chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia.


Significance


The action of a chi machine is designed to simulate the motion of a swimming fish. It is a soothing rocking motion that begins at the ankles and gently sways the entire body.


Types


Chi machines come in a variety of styles and cost upwards of $100. Some units only have the padded ankle support feature, while others have infrared heat and massage units included.


Warning


Passive exercise devices are not appropriate for everyone, including those who are pregnant or cannot lie on their back. Use of this product should be discussed with a health care practitioner.
