Find Assistance For Finding Work Clothes

New work clothes can help you be successful in the job market.

Negative things can happen in life at any time leaving you in a situation where have to start over gathering bits and pieces necessary items to start rebuilding. Maybe you've lost your home to a fire, flood or other natural disaster. Maybe, you're in between jobs and need new work clothing in order to be successful in the job market. Finding assistance to get help finding work clothes is a matter of visiting your local unemployment office and contacting a few other agencies.

Instructions

1. Visit your local unemployment office. Each state has an unemployment division. Sometime the state refers to this department as the "unemployment division" or the "worker services division."

2. Find the bulletin board where various community resources are kept. All unemployment offices (my experience) post bulletin boards full of community resources such as where to find free and reduced day care, locations of local food banks, low-income dental clinics and clothing banks where you can get free clothes for both personal and work needs. Sometimes these resources are put out in individual brochures and sometimes there is a big sheet full of phone numbers. Pick up any applicable brochures.

3. Ask the receptionist for a list of community resources. Although you are seeking just the phone number to the clothing bank that specializes in free work clothing, you might find it helpful to have the numbers to other resources in the future. If the receptionist is not able to provide a full list, then specifically ask just for the phone number of the clothing banks in your area that specialize in work attire.

4. Call the clothing bank to get more information on the days and times you can visit. Ask the person you speak with about anything you need to bring such as photo ID or income verification documents such as paystubs, layoff notices or more.

5. Call the United Way by dialing "211" from any landline telephone. The representative can put you in touch with local agencies that provide free work clothes in your area. Be prepared to write down names and phone numbers of the local agencies.
