Adults can get into the Halloween spirit.
Wearing a Halloween costume isn't just for kids. Many adults love dressing up as well as the challenge of coming up with funny and inventive costumes. You already have many of the items you need to create a fun costume right in your closet or drawers; a quick trip to a thrift store will help round out remaining items.
Igor
Most notably the assistant to Doctor Frankenstein, Igor is an easy costume idea. Find a white lab coat or white jacket and add a hump. Fill a pillowcase with rags or stuffing and sew it into the back of the coat where a hump would be. Use an old, ripped T-shirt for a top. A pair of raggedy, brown pants with the legs ripped just below the knees and cinched with a rope completes the outfit. For an extra gruesome touch, fill a jar with brownish water (made by adding food color) and a chunk of cauliflower to simulate a floating brain.
Paper Doll
This costume works for men or women. Cut out a large piece of cardboard in the rough shape of a paper doll's body, including the rectangular side tabs. If finding a large enough piece of cardboard is a problem, tape pieces together until you get the size you need. Paint the cutout to look like a dress or suit or go with something more whimsical, such as cowboy or cowgirl, a princess or prince. Attach ribbons to the cutout's neck and around its arms and tie it on your body. Wear white, beige or black clothes under the cutout to keep attention on the costume.
Operation Game Man
This costume based on the classic children's game is appropriate for women and men. Dress in flesh-colored clothes and put on a red clown wig and nose. Use felt for game pieces. Look at an Operation game to get inspiration for shapes. For example, cut a butterfly shape for butterflies in the stomach, a broken heart, a wrenched ankle and a funny bone. Attach them to your clothing with Velcro. Carry a large pair of tweezers and invite people to remove your parts. Carry a hand-held buzzer to buzz them when they fail.
