To be considered for most entry-level positions at the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), you must schedule, take and pass the 473 Postal Exam, also known as the 473 Battery Exam. The exam consists of five sections and covers your mastery of skills needed for USPS positions, as well as your personal experience and characteristics that are job-related. For the best result, prepare for your exam with an instructional book or online sample questions and get a full night's sleep before your exam date.
Instructions
1. Apply for your desired USPS position through the USPS website "ecareer" system. Begin by setting up a user account, with a unique username and password, then search and apply for jobs. Once the USPS has received your application, you will receive an acknowledgement email. After review, you will be sent an email instructing you to register for your exam.
2. Choose a time, date and place to take your proctored 473 Battery Exam. You will be given scheduling options in your email. As directed in the USPS email, contact the testing location by phone or email to reserve your testing time. Alternately, sign up for an online test by registering and scheduling your exam on the site indicated in the email.
3. Take your 473 Battery Exam within 14 days of receiving your scheduling email, as required by the USPS.
