Many careers in the medical field pay high salaries. Unfortunately, financing the education required to enter the medical profession can be difficult. Many general scholarships are available for those pursuing any type of higher education. Some scholarships are targeted specifically for students studying medical sonography.
Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Each year, the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography awards a scholarship to one of its members. The scholarship is open to any SDMS member in good standing who has been accepted into or is enrolled in an "advanced sonography-related degree program." Scholarship funds can be used to pay for tuition, books or fees. Scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds, the date the application is received, demonstrated need and an essay describing the applicant's professional plans and how she intends to use a sonography education to serve patients and the sonography community.
