Radiologists use X-rays and other imaging devices to diagnose various ailments and conditions. These professionals may use these images to recommend treatment options or further examinations. Applicants must graduate from an accredited medical school before enrolling in a residency radiology program. Graduates of a radiology residency program are prepared for the certification examination offered through the American Board of Radiology.
University of Connecticut Health Center
The radiology residency program at the University of Connecticut Health Center operates in conjunction with the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. This is a four-year program that offers prospective radiologists rotations at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The first two years of the program offers training at the university and the following two years are spent exclusively at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. The curriculum covers topics in radiology involving the abdomen, chest, pediatrics, nuclear, mammography, neuroradiology, ultrasound and interventional and vascular radiology.

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
The four-year radiology residency program at UCLA is associated with the David Geffen School of Medicine and takes place in five teaching hospitals in the area. The program emphasizes all aspects of medical imaging, and rotations are available in abdominal imaging, breast imaging, thoracic imaging, ultrasonography, pediatric radiology, nuclear medicine, noninvasive cardiovascular imaging and neuroradiology. The rotations in these areas can last anywhere from 6 -- 20 weeks and teach residents the skills, theories, methodology and conceptualizations to work in this field.

Michigan State University
Michigan State University's radiology residency program works with the College of Human Medicine and offers training programs in Grand Rapids and Flint. The program combines academic training with opportunities in hospital settings. The curriculum includes courses in medical neuroscience, introduction to radiology, cell biology and physiology, special problems in anatomy, topics in structural biology, vertebrate neural systems and systems neuroscience. Graduates of this program have an opportunity to vie for three spots in a one-year MRI fellowship at the school.
