Founded in 1955, this private college offers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees in fields including architecture, education, engineering, health sciences, management, arts and medicine. Empire State
As one of the 13 colleges of the State University of New York, Empire State College offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees to adults. With 18,000 adult learners enrolled, the college offers onsite and online courses in arts and sciences. The college designs degrees to meet the needs of mature students; tailored depending on the student's education, career and personal goals. The college also has an independent study program and online library resources.

Saint Joseph's College
The college began offering liberal arts education at its founding, in 1916. The"U.S. News and World Report" named it one of America's best colleges in 2010, for the eighth consecutive year. The report notes it achieved the honor while maintaining low costs for students. Approximately 5,000 students attend St. Joseph's, which has campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island. The latter campus is lakeside in Patchogue.

Molloy College
In 2010, "U.S. News and Report named Molloy College one of America's best and the Princeton Review called it one of the top Northeastern colleges. Founded in 1955, it grew from being an all-female Catholic college to a coed institution with degrees in business, education, criminal justice, arts and sciences. It offers educational experiences in a number of foreign countries including Australia, Japan, India and France.
