A manager hires records technicians and schedules employees for all shifts in the department. The medical records manager ensures that records technicians have the proper skills and credentials to work in the records department.


Education


Hospitals may require a bachelor's degree in health information management for a manager position. Experience as a health information technician may also be required to move into a management role.


Skills


Medical managers work with various departments in the hospital or clinic, which require verbal and written communication skills. Health information workers must have knowledge of medical terminology and have computer skills.
