Medical Technologist Schools In Colorado

Opportunities for careers in medicine will grow, labor experts say.


Medical technology jobs are predicted to see rapid growth in the coming few years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook. Growth in the number of jobs in this industry will be driven by longer life expectancy and aging population. Overall, an estimated 26 percent of all new jobs created in the U.S. economy will be in medical and individual and family services, the bureau predicts. To take advantage of this burgeoning opportunity, you can tool yourself with a one- or two-year program. Several are available in Colorado.


Remington College


One area where technicians work is in keeping patient records.


Remington College offers a medical assisting program at the Colorado Springs campus. The program can be completed in nine months and yields a diploma. It prepares students for both clinical care and medical office administrative duties.

Kaplan College


Many clinical and hospital jobs will be created in the coming years.


Kaplan College, located in Thornton, offers a certified medical assistant program on campus in addition to Kaplan University's online program. The program trains students for office administrative and direct patient care positions.

Everest College


Phlebotomists work in a medical technology field.


Everest College, in Colorado Springs, offers dental assisting, medical assisting, and medical administrative assistant programs. The dental assistant program can prepare students for careers assisting a dentist at chair side with basic dental procedures; preparing materials for use by the dentist; cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments; providing education to patients about good dental health; and performing preventive procedures. The medical assisting curriculum is designed to prepare students for an assortment of entry-level medical assisting positions in both clinical and administrative roles. The medical administrative assistant program emphasizes emphasizes the administrative and business aspects of overseeing a medical or dental office.

Pima Medical Institute


Many medical technology jobs involve direct patient care.


Pima Medical Institute (PMI) has two Colorado campuses--one in Denver and one in Colorado Springs. PMI offers dental assistant, medical assistant, medical administrative assistant and phlebotomy technician programs at the Colorado Springs campus. The same programs, plus expanded duties dental assistant and ophthalmic medical technician, are offered at the Denver campus. The ophthalmic medical technician program is a two-year program yielding an associate degree.
