X-ray technicians are also referred as radiology technicians. These professionals operate x-ray equipment that help doctors assess and diagnose patients internally. Many of the radiology technician programs in Virginia are offered at two-year community colleges. According to Indeed.com, the average salary for x-ray technicians in Virginia is about $59,000 a year as of 2010.

Tidewater Community College is a public, two-year community college with multiple campus locations throughout Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia. TCC offers a fully accredited radiologic technology program at its Virginia Beach location. This is a 72-credit hour program that leads to an associate degree in radiography. Coursework includes: Principles of Radiographic Quality, Radiographic Procedures, Radiation Protection and Radiobiology, Radiographic Specialties and Radiographic Equipment. Graduates of the program are qualified to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam.

Piedmont Virginia Community College is a public community college located in Charlottesville, Virginia. PVCC offers a two-year, fully accredited radiography program; graduates receive an associate degree in radiography and are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam.
