The Dell Diagnostics tool is an application that comes installed on Dell computers, including the Inspiron E1505. With Dell Diagnostics it's possible to perform tests on some or all of the devices on the computer. If you know the symptoms of the problem you can also perform a test based on those symptoms. Dell Diagnostics is not launched like most computer programs. The tool must be launched while the computer is starting up.
Instructions
1. Click your computer's Start menu, then select Turn Off Computer and Restart.
2. Wait for the computer to shut down and begin the rebooting process. When booting begins and the Dell logo appears onscreen, press the "F12" key. The Boot window will appear.
3. Highlight either Diagnostics or Boot to Utility Partition, then press "Enter."
4. Press "Tab" so that Test System is highlighted, then press "Enter." You are now in Dell Diagnostics, where you may choose a custom, express or extended device test.
