The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that technological advances in medical laboratory testing will result in the creation of more than 373,000 new jobs for clinical laboratory technologists. A number of hospitals and public and private schools offer programs in the field. Approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, these schools grant certificates and degrees in the field and enable students to take voluntary certification tests in the field from organizations like the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel.
