Grants For Radiology Research

The MRI is a tool that is used to treat and diagnose cancer

Radiology is a growing field that uses X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs to diagnose and treat diseases. The study of radiology has proved to be priceless in understanding diseases such as cancer and effectively treat and cure them.

Grants for radiology research aims to increase the usefulness of radiologic technology to improve the ways diseases are recognized and treated. Innovative equipment that addresses chronic illnesses can become lifesaving devices in the future. Private and public organizations provide research to improve the field of radiology.

RSNA R&E Foundation research grants

RSNA Research and Education Foundation is a private organization that has given more than $30 million in grant funding for research in radiology. The Foundation aims to encourage careers in radiologic sciences by providing research opportunities for undiscovered investigators.

There are various research opportunities available such as the research resident/fellow grant which provide young investigators an opportunity to gain further knowledge in radiologic studies. These grants are given for one year of research in the amount of $30,000.

Eligible topics for investigation are any topic related to radiologic sciences such as advance in imaging science, developing medical imaging technology, and making innovative use of imaging science to answer biologic or clinical questions.

To be eligible for this grant, applicants must be an RSNA member, resident, or fellow in a department of radiology, radiation oncology, or nuclear medicine within a U.S. institution of higher education and must have minimal investigation experience. The application submission is a two-part process; the application is first submitted electronically then printed and signed for mail service submission.

SIR Foundation

The Society of Interventional Radiology provides grants for innovative research

The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Foundation is an organization committed to advancing the study of radiology through grants that support innovative research. The purpose of the grant is to ultimately develop new techniques and equipment that will advance less evasive treatment procedures for diseases.

The grants from the foundation are meant to provide support a wide range of investigators such as medical students, established practitioners, and undergraduate students. Research grant awards range from $25,000 to $50,000 depending on the program. Grants topic areas include all areas of radiology and innovative technology research. Applications can be submitted online through the website.

Society of Thoracic Radiology

The Society of Thoracic Radiology is a private organization aiming to promote excellence in cardiothoracic imaging and clinical care through education and research. The foundation provides seed grants, which are grants that support new, innovative research, for investigations in thoracic imaging and related studies.

Eligibility for the grant requires the lead researcher be a member of STR. The award amount for research in thoracic (chest), radiology ranges from $8,000 to $20,000 for a one-year research period.

Applications and projects proposals should be mailed to the listed mailing address. Make sure that three copies of the application are submitted.
