Design A Fair Booth

Follow a few easy steps to create a stunning fair booth.

Going to the fair is an exciting event. There are so many sights and sounds for families to discover. Add excitement to a fair by creating an attractive visual display at your fair booth. Create a display that will attract people to your organization or product. When you create your booth, consider your space constraints and challenges and your relative location in the fair. Think about connect with customers with a clear, strong message and vivid colors. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Get a map of the fair and determine the size and needs of your particular booth site. Determine the size of the fair booth and how close it is to other booths. Visualize where people will stand in front and behind the booth, and take note of the surroundings and if your booth is exposed to the elements.

2. The location of your booth changes your customer base.

Understand how your location changes your customer base. Ask questions about the location of your booth relative to other fair attractions. If you are close to rides or displays, think of ways to market to people coming from those particular rides or displays. Design your booth to advertise specifically to those customers: those coming from a hot, crowded barn may need a free drink of water, for example.

3. Confirm what is provided for exhibitors.

Confirm what is provided to booth exhibitors. This will determine what you will need to provide for yourself, such as a table, electrical components or a canopy to block rain or intense sun. All of these factors will impact the way you design your booth and what you need to bring.

4. Create a message for your fair booth to share what you want to sell or tell people about. People are very overstimulated at fairs, so be prepared to offer one strong, single message to your customers. People will look at your booth for a very short time and will move on to the next thing if it is not clear. Create a booth that is simple, has a lot of open space and is professionally organized. This way you will impress potential customers.

5. Design your booth in three dimensions and imagine how you can use the height of your booth to your advantage as well as the base. For example, if you are selling items, you can keep stock underneath the booth.

6. Use strong colors to attract customers.

Use color and motion to attract visitors to your booth. Choose a color theme for the booth that is visually attractive and strong. Use bold and bright colors like red, blue and green in your draperies and your tables to attract visitors to your booth. Use moving items such as video screens or automatons to add visual interest to your booth.

7. Find a place to do cash transactions if required.

Create a functional work space in your booth. Leave at least 1 foot of space behind the displays to ensure that workers have enough room to sort and move new stock or pamphlets to the front. Add a sliding drawer under the back of the table for a cash box or hide a cash register behind a draped cloth on the side of the booth. Place the stock of items for sale at the bottom of the booth and conceal the bottom of the booth with a tablecloth so the items are not visible.
