List Of Highpaying Technologybased Careers

A high-paying tech job could be your dream career.

Technology-based careers are known for offering abundant salaries to skilled workers. While getting rich with a tech job is not guaranteed, some jobs pay well and have healthy growth projections. With the right degree and experience, you could be making more than $75,000 a year with a tech career.

Computer Systems Software Engineers

The projected 10-year job growth of more than 57 percent alone makes this job worth considering if security is your main concern. But the mean $96,620 wage reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2009 makes the computer software engineer title even more lucrative. You will be responsible for designing and developing software. "Those with practical experience and at least a bachelor's degree in a computer-related field should have the best opportunities," noted the BLS.

Sales Engineers

If you want to earn six figures in the tech industry, consider becoming a sales engineer. Sales engineers who worked in computer systems design earned a mean $102,780 annually in 2009, according to the BLS. You will use your in-depth technical expertise to sell technologically advanced products to companies. Projected 10-year job growth was average in 2010, compared with all other jobs. "Competition for jobs is expected because the relatively high earnings potential of this occupation creates significant interest in sales engineer positions," the BLS noted.

Robotics Engineers

Robotics engineers earned a median annual wage of $89,950 in 2009, according to the occupational information network O-Net. The salary, and fact that the career had a 10-year projected growth comparable to other careers -- make this job worth considering. As a robotics engineer, you will debug robotics programs, provide technical support for robotic systems, install and maintain robots, and integrate robots with peripherals. You will need to design, integrate, test and evaluate components for robots, according to the BLS. Robotics engineers earned a $89,560 annual median wage in 2009.

Network Systems and Data Communications Analysts

Network systems and data communications analysts make a healthy salary, and to top it off, the projected 10-year job growth in 2010 was more than 53 percent according to the BLS. The mean salary for workers with this job title was $76,650 in 2009. Computer systems design-type industries paid workers in this position the most. As an analyst, you will design and evaluate network systems. "With the explosive growth of the Internet, this worker group has come to include a variety of occupations," the BLS noted.
