Short hairstyles can be stylish and sexy for women over 50.
Hair styles for people over the age of 50 have varying factors. Men's hair is usually thinning or going away unless alternative methods have been put in place to hold on to the hair--Propecia, hair plugs, a toupee. Women's hair is also thinner and most likely doesn't have the bounce and fullness it once had in her youth. Both men's and women's hair will also most likely be changing colors, from their natural blonde, red, grey or black to white, silver or gray. Does this Spark an idea?
Short, Funky Hair for Women
Actors Ellen Barkin and Jamie Lee Curtis have helped popularize the spiked, funky look among women over 50. With a sheer, short cut that might suit a man in his thirties, these hairstyles accentuate a woman's neck and her facial features. These shorter cuts can be flattering on a wide range of women and are generally easy to deal with.
Long Hair for Women
Better stylists and vastly superior hair care are making older hair from older heads still look as strong and vibrant as they did in their youth. Yet the most important thing with longer hair (or perhaps any hairstyle for a woman over 50) is a colorist who can make the hair's natural color come back over the aging grays and whites--or at least dye it in such a way that the color looks perfectly natural.
Men over 50's Hair
For a man over 50, the main factor to deal with is hair loss. If balding has occurred,a shaved head or buzz cut might work best. For men with full heads of hair after 50, look to the current and past movie stars whose classic hair cuts have set them apart. Clint Eastwood and George Clooney have reliable cuts; Eastwood's is a little longer, helped by a bit of mousse and a blow dryer, while Clooney's is a crew cut styled with hair spray for shape.
