Funny clowns can entertain the crowd at a circus-themed health fair.
Health fairs with a theme are likely to make a big impact on the guests. A circus-themed health fair is an entertaining way to teach people about their health and health issues. If the health fair is open to the public, inform participating agencies and companies that there is a circus theme to the event. If the health fair is going to be at a school and is student-driven, ask students to also follow the circus theme as well. Each booth will focus on a topic of health and also needs to include circus-related decorations or activities.
Entertainment
Hire live entertainment to keep the crowd interested during a circus-themed health fair. Hire a clown or, in the case of a school health fair, ask for student volunteers to dress up as clowns. Clowns dressed as doctors and nurses would be particularly appropriate for the event. Other entertainers to include are jugglers and someone who knows make balloon animals. A coloring table with circus-themed coloring pages will help keep little guests entertained. Show circus-related video footage on televisions for guests to watch.
Decorations
Decorations have to encompass both the circus theme as well as a health-care theme. Use streamers and balloons and colorful cardboard cutout clowns to adorn walls. Cardboard cutouts of doctors, nurses and medical tools -- such as stethoscopes and thermometers -- are also appropriate decorations. Use stuffed circus animals to sit on table tops near the registration table to greet guests.
Food Concession Stands
Since you are hosting a health fair, typical circus foods should not be offered. Think of healthy alternatives to typical circus foods. Instead of cotton candy, fattening hot dogs and nachos dripping in cheese, offer healthier foods. Offer fresh fruit bowls, raw vegetables trays and low-fat meat sandwiches for sale at the health fair. Consider offering low-fat frozen yogurts for dessert and, of course, offer water bottles.
Booth Ideas
Have individual booths follow the circus theme. Feature a specific circus animal or act at certain booths. A booth about spinal health could feature an acrobat. The booth can tell the story of how spinal health affects movement and how movement affects the back. A booth highlighting dental health could feature a stuffed lion with his mouth wide open. Allow kids to brush the lion's pearly whites with a giant toothbrush, and give demonstrations on proper dental care, using the lion as a prop.
