Once you begin to see the various crafting techniques that can be used to create pink ribbons, you may be surprised. Make a lovely assortment of items to spread awareness about breast cancer.

Hanging Ornament

Use 2-inch-wide pink satin ribbon to make a hanging ornament. Cut two 8-inch lengths of ribbon. Place the two ribbons together on top of each other with right sides facing each other. Sew along both long edges and one short edge, using a 1/8-inch seam allowance. Turn the sewn ribbon right side out and smooth it flat. Stuff the ribbon tube with fiberfill, using the eraser side of a pencil to push the fiberfill all the way down to the end of the tube. Fill until it is evenly filled and then hand stitch the open end closed with small stitches.

Bend the tube so that it is in the standard ribbon shape and take a few small stitches to hold the tube in place.

Cut a 6-inch length of ¼-inch-wide pink ribbon and sew it to the top of the ribbon tube for hanging the ornament.

Jewelry

Shop for pink ribbon beads to use for making jewelry. There are many different styles and sizes of pink ribbon beads that can be added to earrings, necklaces and bracelets. There are even special Pandora beads to add to Pandora bracelets, if desired.

Use two matching pink ribbon beads to make earrings. Place the beads onto head pins, shape the head pin into a wrapped loop above the beads, and clip off the excess head pin wire. Add the wrapped loops to earring wires to finish the earrings.

Make a matching necklace and bracelet. Determine the length desired for the necklace and bracelet and add 3 inches to both lengths. Cut beading wire to this length. Use beads that will complement the pink ribbon beads, such as white and pink beads and string the beads onto the beading wire as desired. Place the pink ribbon beads at the center of the necklace and bracelet as focal beads. Add closure clasps to each of the ends and trim off the excess beading wire to finish both the bracelet and necklace.

Enamel Painting

Use pink enamel paints and add a pink ribbon to glassware and dishes. Start with plain, white dishes and plain, clear glassware. Simply load a ½-inch-wide flat brush with pink enamel paint and draw the ribbon onto the dishes or glassware in the standard looped ribbon shape. Allow the paint to dry completely and follow paint product recommendations for curing times and washing instructions.
