Remote Employee Safety Training

Working remotely is an alternative for many people to the conventional routine of driving into the office everyday. With remote work options, employees must learn detect safety hazards and keep their environments free from harm, since employers are not physically present to do this for them.


Responsibility


Employers are responsible for securing the safety of their employees, according to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Accordingly, employers must find ways to keep even remote employees safe from threatening hazards. This can be accomplished by developing safety training designed to educate remote employees about hazard identification and other safe practices.


Format


Remote safety training for employees are offered through Web-based training modules. Employees can access the training material from their computers with an Internet connection and work at their own pace through the coursework. Proof of course completion is sent to the employer so a safety training record can be maintained on the employee.


Curriculum


General industry safety training includes bloodborne pathogen safety, chemical safety, good housekeeping standards and lessons on minimize slip-and-fall or trip-and-fall accidents. Specific safety training is also instituted for employees who perform specialized work, such as construction. These types of training contain curriculum that reviews safeguarding machinery, personal protective equipment and fall arrest systems.
