Online Visual Effect Training

Learn to use digital effects to manipulate images.

Visual effects are commonly created through computer software and other digital hardware for the purpose of distorting or changing images in a way that they could not commonly be manipulated in real life. Individuals interested in using these techniques for personal or professional Internet applications can take academic courses to become familiar with the field.

Programs

Individuals interested in digital visual effects for internet and other applications can take a variety of courses and programs available at colleges throughout the United States. Academic options range from single courses for personal applications to bachelor's degree programs designed for individuals interested in a career in film, television, video game and online design.

Methodology

Some programs are offered entirely through distance education, where students are provided with access to online curriculum, demonstrations and instructor and peer char groups. Other programs are offered at campus locations with instructor-led and computer laboratory training.

Curriculum

A bachelor's degree program includes general education courses in psychology, sociology and popular culture, as well as core-specific courses in concept and imaging, motion studies, dynamic effects, 3D modeling, character animation, texture, digital compositing and motion capture. Students become familiar with techniques through hands-on training on equipment and software commonly used in the industry today.
