Low Thyroid Problems

Visually Apparent Symptoms


Patients with hypothyroidism or low thyroid problems will have brittle hair and fingernails, a puffy face and dry, pale skin.


Weight Issues


People with hypothyroidism will often experience weight gain or the inability to lose weight because of a slowed metabolism.


Emotional


Hypothyroid patients often suffer from depression and irritability.


Other Symptoms


Other symptoms associated with hypothyroidism include high cholesterol, constipation, fatigue, muscle weakness, cold intolerance, hoarseness, pain and stiffness of joints, goiter and decreased libido.


Warning


Left untreated, severe hypothyroidism can lead to myxedema, which is a life-threatening condition that can lead to coma and death.
