There are online courses in ultrasound technology.
The health-care industry is a rapidly growing field. Many colleges offer programs and degree options to become licensed as an ultrasound technician. To become an ultrasound technician, students must first have an associate's or bachelor's degree in health care. They are then allowed to enter into a clinical ultrasound program. Luckily, there are many online institutions that offer this health-care degree with the flexibility of taking classes right at home.
Kaplan University
Kaplan Univeristy offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting, which helps prepare students for jobs in physician's offices, hospitals and clinics. It also has other degrees in Health Information Technology. Kaplan explains that those enrolled in the program interact with patients, physicians and other health-care providers in order to receive a well-rounded education. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant examination given by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
Although being offered online, these degrees also are offered at Kaplan's Davenport, Iowa, campus. All students, before graduation, are required to complete an externship at a health-care facility to gain real-world experience in the field. Kaplan is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
