Computer and Information Systems Managers
Information systems managers work with computers, electronic data processing, programming and systems analysis. The average salary for this type of manager in the U.S. is $120,640 per year as of May 2009, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The majority of these managers work in either the industry of computer systems design or the management of companies and enterprises, earning $130,000 at the former and $123,910 at the latter. New Jersey is the highest paying state for information systems managers with an annual mean wage of $139,880.
Medical and Health Services Managers
Managers in hospitals, clinics and public health agencies are known as medical and health services managers. According to the BLS, the average salary for these managers in the U.S. was $90,970 as of May 2009. Most work in either hospitals for the average salary of $96,660 or the offices of physicians for the average salary of $88,650. Health services managers in Washington earn the highest salaries at an average of $109,460 annually.
Human Resources Managers
Many businesses have a human resources department, the manger of which oversees recruitment and training of new employees. The average salary for human resources managers in the U.S. was $105,510 as of May 2009, according to the BLS. The industry with the highest level of employment of human resources managers is the management of companies and enterprises, which offers an annual salary of $120,750. The local government also employs a high level of human resources managers, paying an annual salary of $91,510. Delaware offers the highest wages of all states for HR managers at $137,990 annually.
Financial Managers
Financial managers may direct accounting, banking, insurance and securities activities for a department, branch or entire organization. Financial managers earn an average salary of $113,730 as of May 2009 according to the BLS. Most are employed either in the industry of depository credit intermediation for an average salary of $92,110, or the management of companies and enterprises for $130,700 annually. Financial managers in New York earn the highest salary at an average of $148,070 per year.
