Students who wish to study radiology have a number of schools in the Chicago area to choose from.
Medical students who study radiology can pursue a career as a radiologist. These physicians use image scanning machines, including MRIs, X-rays and CT scanners, to diagnose, prevent and treat diseases and deformities. Medical students in Chicago may enroll in radiology programs from a variety of schools. The majority of these programs take four to seven years to complete, often including a residency or clinical training.
University of Illinois Chicago
The University of Illinois Chicago offers a program in radiology. This program is included in the university's College of Medicine and allows students to work at the University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center, the Outpatient Care Center and the Advanced Imaging Center. Students study under top-ranking professionals and gain hands-on experience with some of the department's advanced image scanning systems. Students gain work experience by working with patients and studying under practicing radiologists.

Loyola University Chicago
Loyola University Chicago offers a four-year program in radiology through the Stritch School of Medicine. Students work hands-on with image scanning technology, including MRIs and CT scanners, and study under practicing professionals. Students also have access to the university's libraries and laboratories. According to the program's website, students in this program must attend daily conferences and lectures, participate in clinical studies and research and enroll in comprehensive radiology courses. Students must also participate in retreats and scholarly presentations.

Northwestern Radiology
Northwestern Radiology, a division of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, offers a four-year residency program in radiology. According to the program's website, students in this program study interventional radiology, vascular radiology, magnetic resonance imaging, women's imaging, neuroradiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and computed tomography. This program is sponsored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. Students work with patients in clinics, laboratories and hospitals. Students also have access to the university's state-of-the-art research laboratories and libraries.
