Windows Mobile 6 1 Backlight Issues

Windows Mobile 6.1 was a minor update to the Windows Mobile operating system, but various backlight issues occur with this build. The screen backlight's actions are configured differently, so if you upgraded from Windows Mobile 6, or even Windows Mobile 5, you will notice some changes, not all of them intentional. Some issues are easy to fix, while others, as widely reported on the Internet, require additional general computer knowledge.

Can't find the backlight Options

The backlight options moved slightly with this OS build, so you will find them in a different place. Click "Start," "Settings" and "Power Management" to load the backlight settings. You can change various settings from here.

Screen Increasing in Brightness

Various users online report that, instead of the backlight dimming when the phone is "asleep," it brightens. This requires you to edit some of the mobile operating system's registry files. The registry on the phone acts much like a computer registry, storing configurations settings for the phone and its applications.

Screen Decreasing in Brightness too quickly

Some users, when they upgrade from Windows Mobile 6, find that the screen decreases in brightness too quickly. This initially required a registry fix, but AT&T has issued a software update, which can be found on its software download site.
