Recycle some tissue paper used for gifts to make decoupaged crafts.
Decoupage is a process that uses a glue substance to adhere paper to an object. Using tissue paper to make decoupage crafts is a colorful way to brighten up a vase, jewelry box, photo frame or glass candle holder. Decoupage is simple enough for a child to do, but the results are beautiful. Add some life to a boring object with some decoupage and tissue paper.
Instructions
1. Cut the tissue paper into manageable squares. Use scissors to make even cuts or rip the tissue paper if you desire. Smaller pieces will look nicer, and larger pieces tend to get a bit more wrinkled when decoupaging because tissue paper is a thin type of paper.
2. Spread a thin layer of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium on to the object you are decoupaging. Use a paintbrush for this. Be careful not to oversaturate the item.
3. Press the pieces of tissue paper on to the Mod Podge to adhere them. Gently glue the tissue paper on to the object to avoid wrinkles, however, wrinkles add texture so if you end up with a few, don't be distressed. Layer and overlap the pieces of tissue paper for a more interesting look to your project. Cover the entire object this way.
4. Spread Mod Podge over the tissue paper with the paintbrush, sealing the project. Allow the craft to dry overnight.
Tips Warnings
Using a variety of colors of tissue paper can provide a more festive-looking project.
Use a paintbrush to brush a clear glittery sealant over the project to add some shine.
