The Best Beaches In Maroma Mexico Area

Mexico grows what are known as Fan Palm Trees.

Maroma Beaches can be found on the coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in an area known as the Mayan Riviera. The majority of this Mexican Caribbean coastline is full of resorts and hotels that make some of the beachfront exclusive. But there are many public areas of beach in Maroma, as well as other nearby beaches that are just as beautiful, offering clean, white sands, turquoise waters activities such as surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming.

Maroma Beach

On the coast of the Mayan Riviera is where you'll find Maroma Beach. Lush palm trees line the beach in this tropical atmosphere. This is a favorite snorkeling area because of its proximity to the Great Mayan Reef in the Caribbean Sea. If you hike a little further south, you'll also find Tulum Ruins Beach, which is a smaller, secluded beach that's located in the heart of ancient Mayan ruins.

Secret and Paradise Beaches

Two other main beaches in the Maroma area are Secret Beach and Paradise Beach, which are three miles apart. They are accessible from the main road that leads to Playa del Carmen. Both beaches are a favorite for indigenous sea turtles and crabs. The sea turtles nest here, and once their babies are born, you often can see them crawling across the sands to get to the sea.

Paamul Beach

Approximately 15 miles from Maroma is Paamul Beach. The beachfront here has a slight slope down to the water's edge, but it is a popular place for scuba diving and other water sports. This beach also features accommodations and amenities, including rental beach cottages, restaurants and water sports equipment rental facilities.

Playa Del Carmen Beach

In Spanish, Playa means beach, and this area of beach stretches for miles. It's popular with tourists as well as locals because it's close to the city of the same name, Playa del Carmen. The beach gets quite crowded during the summer, the area's high season. Activities abound here all the time, from volleyball games, to Frisbee, to scuba diving and swimming.

Puerto Aventuras Beach

Located 35 miles south of Moramo, Puerto Aventuras Beach features a calm, peaceful beach area for relaxation and luxury resort amenities. Area activities and services include a variety of shops, restaurants and bars and a boating marina. Nearby attractions include a museum that showcases antiquated sunken vessels. The museum is open year round.
