If you're interested in a career with growth potential, MRI technician programs could be a smart choice. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the Radiologic Technologist and Technician occupations to increase by 17 percent through the year 2018 with MRI technicians having some of the best job possibilities. As a magnetic resonance imaging technologist, you'll be able to find a job in a hospital, doctor's office or diagnostic center.


West Coast Ultrasound Institute


The West Coast Ultrasound Institute (WCUI) offers a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program that will prepare you for a job as an entry-level MRI technician and for the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification test. You will receive academic instruction as well as hands-on training in hospital laboratories and diagnostic centers. The program includes such courses as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and mathematics. You will also learn take a patient's blood pressure, pulse rate and temperature and perform CPR and basic first aid. In addition, you will study the operation and function of the MRI machine such as its signal, the pulse timing parameters and the digital images.

American Academy of Magnetic Resonance Imaging


American Academy of Magnetic Resonance Imaging offers a program that trains students to become MRI technicians. The program consists of both academic and clinical education. In the beginning of the program, you will study such fundamentals as mathematics, physics and chemistry. You will also learn about the principles of MRI technology including pulse sequences, image formation and signal intensity. The program will also give you a basic foundation in medicine with such classes as anatomy, microbiology, neurobiology, pharmacology and pathology. Upon completion of the course, you will be eligible to take the ARMRIT examination, which will certify you as a qualified registered MRI technician.

American University of Medical Technology


The American University of Medical Technology offers an MRI technician program that consists of two modules and an externship in a hospital, doctor's office or diagnostic center. The two modules include such classes as anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. You will also learn the principles of the MRI instrumentation and use it. The course looks at case studies so you can analyze real-life situations. You will complete the externship at one of the university's affiliated clinical facilities. At the end of the program, you will be qualified to take the ARMRIT certification examination. Upon successful completion of the program, you should have a strong understanding of human physiology and the MRI equipment.
