What Jobs Get With A Radiologic Technology Degree

Radiologic technology often involves medical x-rays.

Radiologic technology is the practice of imaging the body in search of medical issues. It is in the medical field of study and those who are seeking or who have earned a degree in radiologic technology can search for jobs as medical professionals. Potential workplaces include medical facilities, laboratories and clinics.

Radiologic Technologist

Those who have degrees in radiologic technology can find jobs as radiologic technologists. These professionals use x-rays and other types of technology to image and diagnose patient's bodies, organs and bones. These technologists must have relevant degrees and must be able to work with patients to diagnose possible health and medical problems that cannot be seen outside of the body without internal imaging.

Magnetic Resonance Technologists

Magnetic resonance technologists deal with the imaging of the human body, using radio frequency pulsing and magnetic fields to make detailed anatomical images. They accomplish this by using the resonant frequencies of atoms in the magnetic field. These technologists image the body, and can also perform functional and spectral analyses and offer therapy using magnetic resonance methods.

Sonographers

Sonographers assist, diagnose and treat patients using high frequency sound waves. Those with degrees in radiologic technology can often find jobs in the sonography field. Using the nonionizing sound waves, sonographers can form ultrasound signals that echo or reflect off of various anatomical parts. Sonographers can work in diagnostic fields or can perform ultrasounds for those expecting a child.

Radiation Therapists

Radiation therapists mainly treat ailing patients, generally those with various forms of cancer. Such illnesses can be treated using high-energy beams of radiation. The radiation targets cancer cells and destroys or weakens them. Those with degrees in radiologic technology are usually qualified to administer such treatment and to chart and record the dosages, procedures and results of sessions with cancer patients.
