Kansas Vocational Tech Schools

Vocational and technical schools offer career-specific educational degrees.


For busy professionals or students with specific career goals, vocational and technical schools can be a good alternative to traditional four-year universities. Kansas technical schools should be approved to operate by the Kansas Board of Regents and be licensed to award degrees and certificates by a U.S. Department of Education-approved accrediting association to ensure a quality education.


National American University


The National American University is located in Overland Park and Wichita. It has an extensive curriculum, offering degrees in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, health care and nursing, to name a few. It offers a variety of MBA programs in addition to bachelor's and associate's degrees. Classes are available online. The National American University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.


Brown Mackie College


Brown Mackie College has locations in Kansas City and Salina. It offers eight areas of study: business, early childhood education, general studies, health care and wellness, legal studies, nursing, technology and veterinary. Brown Mackie College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. They are authorized to grant the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree by the Kansas Board of Regents.


The Arts Institutes International -- Kansas City


Unlike traditional vocational and technical schools, The Arts Institutes International -- Kansas City focuses solely on design, media arts, fashion and culinary degree programs. Equipped with brand new facilities, it is approved by the Kansas Board of Regents and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award associate's and bachelor's degrees. The Art Institutes International -- Kansas City is affiliated with the The Art Institute of Phoenix.


Wright Career College


Wright Career College is a non-profit vocational school located in Overland Park, offering degrees in business, computer and medical training. The combination of day and evening classes allows most students to graduate in less than a year. It is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and is licensed by the Kansas Board of Regents.


Wichita Technical Institute (WTI)


WTI is an established technical school offering degrees in computer technology and network administration; heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology; integrated electronics technology; medical assistant; medical insurance billing and coding; and networking technology. WTI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and is licensed by the Kansas Board of Regents.


Pinnacle Career Institute


Pinnacle Career Institute, located in Lawrence, offers degrees in alternative energy, health and fitness, medical, and trades and technical programs. It is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and is licensed by the Kansas Board of Regents. It is also approved by the VA to offer federally funded student loan programs to qualified students.
