Design State Fair Booths

State fairs can offer good opportunities to promote your business.


State fairs offer a variety of ways to promote your products or business. Large crowds can mean lots of potential customers and a chance to answer any questions face to face. However, the bustling nature of state fairs requires something extra when you design a display booth. Careful thought about a creative and eye-catching display can bring rich rewards when you are up against competition from so many other vendors.

1. Research your booth options. Decide what size would be most effective and how much you are willing to spend. Choosing a booth size first is important because it can determine the limitations of your decorations.


2. Decide what aspects of your product or service you want to emphasize. Assume that you have a short time to reach your target audience. Determine what they can absorb in a few minutes. Focus on what makes your product unique and memorable; friends, coworkers and family can sometimes provide helpful input.


3. Sketch out an initial plan for the booth. Create an overall look and feel. Do you plan to have a sleek, modern booth, or a more casual and welcoming space? Include any potential color schemes or focal objects in your draft.


4. Determine what supplies you will need to make your design a reality. Check with the fair staff to see if they provide things like tables and chairs, and how many electrical outlets will be available to you. Check again to see that your design is physically and financially plausible. Be prepared to make changes if necessary.


5. Purchase or rent your materials. Do a trial setup before the fair begins. Make sure your booth is physically attractive, informative and structurally sound. When you set the booth up correctly, take a picture for future reference.
