Make A Donation For A Death To A Charity

When a friend or loved one dies it is not uncommon to make a donation on behalf of that person to a charity or other organization. This donation is made in their memory, allowing you to give money to a cause they favored in life. If you want to make a donation for a death to a charity you should do so while keeping a few specific things in mind. Does this Spark an idea?

1. Find a charity your deceased friend or loved one would have supported in life. Because you are making a donation to the charity on behalf of someone it is important to do so while supporting a cause the person would have liked. For example, if the person in question died due to complications of a disease find a charity involved with the research and treatment of that disease.


2. Research the charity in question on a site such as Charity Navigator.com. These types of sites allow you to see historical data about a charity and find out what types of activities the organizations are involved in. Charity Navigator also breaks down organizational efficiency percentages, allowing you get a sense of exactly where that money will be going.


3. Contact the charity in question to find out where to send donations. Often charities will have specific addresses set up for this purpose.


4. Make a check or money order payable to the charity you have chosen. In the memo section write "In loving memory of" followed by the name of your deceased friend or loved-one. Mail the donation to the charity.
