A digital camera
The Panasonic HD 5000 -- or more specifically, the SD-5000 -- is an early consumer digital camera equipped to take digital photos and record video.
Resolution
The SD-5000 takeks pictures at three resolutions at the following pixel sizes:
2048 x 1536, 1024 x 768 and 640 x 480. The Panasonic camera recognizes the sizes by modes called Super Fine Mode, Fine Mode, Normal Mode and Zoom Mode. It records movies at a fixed resolution of 320 x 240.
Storage
Using two floppy disc mediums as storage, the SD-5000 can save anywhere from two to 17 images on a standard floppy (1.44 MB) or 240 to 1,500 pictures on a proprietary SuperDisk (120 MB). Both capacities depend on the selected resolution: the higher the resolution, the more space a picture will take.
Other Specfications
Pictures are saved in JPEG format while videos are recorded in QuickTime. The camera also has a built-in flash with four white balance settings: Auto, Indoor, Outdoor and a White set. The SD-5000 also includes a built-in microphone and speaker.
