Interactive Digital Technology allows the user to interact with technological devices. Max/Msp, Jitter and Isadora are used for theater, audio and video programs, used to create lighting, audio and visual effects in the realm of performance.
Max/Msp
Max/Msp is a program that works with audio and digital input and output. The input and output comes from a computer's internal microphone or from an audio interface with a microphone attached to it. This works for instruments, vocals or the sounds in a room. The program allows users to mix and manipulate sound as well as play basic audio tracks that are converted to an .aiff file.
Jitter
Jitter is part of Max/Msp, but relates to the video program. Jitter allows the user to play Quicktime movies and manipulate them via cross fading, image brightness, the number of videos being shown and the colors. Jitter is great for video DJing, which is seen in nightclubs and live art events or installations in addition to music. Jitter can also be synced up with an iPhone and can be controlled via iPhone, so the user does not have to be near the computer at all.
Isadora
Isadora is mostly used in theater to mix audio and visual components together. The program is very user-friendly, similar to Macintosh's Garageband audio program. Isadora can be used to show video clips, mix audio and visuals together, run lighting and sound.
