Ge 2 0 Usb Hub Tech Specs

USB ports allow you to connect several peripheral devices such as hard drives, disk drives and Wi-Fi adapters to the computer, giving the computer increased storage capacity as well as Internet access. You can also sync phones and cameras to the computer via USB, which allows you to transfer music and video to and from portable devices. The GE USB 2.0 Hub was designed for those who have many peripheral devices to connect.

Connection

The type of cable that connects to the GE USB Hub is the High Speed 4 pin USB Type A. The output port that connects to the computer is also a USB Type A configuration. No mini-USB or USB Type B ports are included.

Number

The GE USB 2.0 Hub features seven USB 2.0 ports and can connect up to seven devices to the PC. One extra USB port is reserved for connection to the computer, making a total of eight USB ports.

Enclosure

This USB hub is an external model and does not fit directly into the computer itself. The hub has a black brushed-aluminum exterior casing accented in chrome. This USB hub also features a slidable base that you can use as a stand or as a desk or wall mount.

Data Rate

The GE Hub's USB 2.0 ports can transfer data up to 40 times faster than the predecessor USB 1.1, which transferred data at speeds of up to 12Mbps. The GE Hub is rated at speeds of up to 480Mbps, an increase in data transfer rate that allows the computer to play video files, use proprietary external devices such as USB pianos or audio, and play high-definition video from a USB-connected Blu-ray player without significant lag.

Power

Although many USB hubs run on power supplied by the computer, the GE USB Hub runs on an independent power source supplied by its own AC adapter. This independence allows for greater stability and less interference in data transfer.
