Lose Male Breasts

Lose Male Breasts

Male breasts is called gynecomastia, and it is very common, especially among teen boys. It is often related to obesity (being overweight) and hormones. When there is an overproduction of the hormone estrogen, it may contribute to the condition. Although in teens it is usually caused by excess fat, it could also be caused by underlying glandular tissue. In order to eliminate the condition, try some of these tips.

Instructions

1. Eat high protein, low carbohydrate and low fat meals. Stay away from any saturated fat. For instance, you should not be eating chips, cakes, candies, sugar, pasta, bread, potatoes or any foods that contain high amounts of saturated fat. Check your food labels and look for saturated fat and trans fat. Healthy foods will contain little of these unhealthy fats. Protein sources are lean meats, eggs and cheese. Limit cheese to 3 ounces per day because of the fat content however. Try to purchase meat and dairy products that do not contain hormones. Hormones and steroids can contribute to male breasts.

2. Find out what rate your body burns fat and work out at that rate. An easy way to find your fat burning rate is to subtract your age from 220. This number is the rate at which your heart needs to beat in order to burn fat. Keep your heart rate at about 85% of this rate to burn fatty tissue. That would mean if you are 13 years old, you subtract that from 220. The resulting number is 207. Multiply 207 x .85 to get your fat burning rate.

3. Exercise with cardio workouts for 30 to 60 minutes per day. Fun exercises that work the upper body will keep your work outs from getting boring. Try playing tennis, basketball, racquetball, and other sports that involve a lot of upper body movements. This will help you to work on the upper body specifically while still burning fat. If you can wear a heart monitor watch while working out you will always know your heart rate as well. To check where your heart rate is manually, you can stop for ten seconds in the middle of a workout and put two fingers on the jugular vein in your neck. Count the number of beats for 10 seconds. Multiply this number by 60 to get your heartbeats per minute.

4. Work out with weights and isometrics. Do specific exercises that target your chest such as chest press, incline chest press and pushup. Pushups in particular will help target chest muscles. Do military, wide hand and regular pushups to mix it up and target all areas of the chest. Pull ups are also a great exercise for the chest. If you can not pull yourself by yourself, put a chair back underneath you to assist you in pushing your body up.

5. See a doctor and have your thyroid checked to be sure your hormones are working correctly. If the male breast condition is severe you might have tests for conditions such as Klinefelters Syndrome and Gilberts Syndrome. These conditions are known to cause male breasts. Have hormone tests as well to ensure the hormones are balanced correctly. Have a body fat test as well. Healthy body fat for young males is 8% to 20%.

6. Consider drinking a protein drink that contains amino acids such as l-arginine, creatine and l-glutamine. These supplements will help you to lose fat instead of muscle when losing weight. Get at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep at night to allow for recovery and muscle growth as well. Be sure to drink plenty of water to flush fat out of your system. Water intake should be 64 ounces per day. Do not take any illegal drugs. Drugs such as marijuana, heroin and amphetamines can lead to the condition of male breasts. Keep your calorie intake between 2500 to 3000 per day if you are active. Anything above that will likely be stored as fat.
