Troubleshoot A Kodak Slide Projector

Watch your slides with a Kodak Slide Projector.

Sometimes slides are the only record we have of family and friends. A Kodak Carousal Slide Projector, and others like it, are the only ways to view this particular media. To keep the projector in good condition, it is advisable to keep on top of any wear and tear that occurs. Most of the problems are relatively simple to troubleshoot, whether it is a lens that is incorrectly seated or a lamp that needs replacing.

Instructions

1. Plug the power cord into a working outlet if the unit will not power up. Set the power switch to "Lamp."

2. Install a new lamp if there is no illumination when a slide is in the projector gate. Slide the power switch to "OFF" and unplug the projector. Allow the lamp and projector to cool down for at least 10 minutes. Press the lamp-module release button and remove the lamp module. Lift up the lamp release clip and remove the old lamp from the socket. Insert the new lamp into the socket and push down to tightly seat it. Attach the clip and push the module all the way back into the lamp until it latches.

3. Slide the tray-release latch in the direction of the arrow if there is a slide jammed in the projector gate. Lift off the back of the tray. Leave the lock ring in place and turn the tray upside down. Remove the jammed slide from the projector gate.

4. Check that the lens is installed correctly if the slides are out of focus. Push the focus knob up. The focus knob is situated on the side of the projector near the tube-like lens. Position the lens gear teeth on the lens tube, or barrel, with the corresponding notch on the projector and insert the lens. Push the focus knob back down.

5. Check to see if the slides have both open and glass mounts if the auto-focus has difficulty focusing from slide to slide. The slides should be uniform in their mounts for the focus to be sharp.

6. Inspect the slide to see if it is bent or damaged if it will not drop into projection position. Straighten or remount the slide. Try repositioning the slide tray on the projector.
