Oklahoma Lowincome Housing Guidelines

Oklahoma has state and local services for securing low-income housing.

Oklahoma offers various services to provide residents with affordable housing. Whether you need complete public assistance or help securing a home loan, the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) or your municipal housing authority can help you get it.

Qualifications

Oklahoma residents must fit into one of three categories based on individual resources to qualify for low-income housing: dependent, working poor or primarily self-sufficient.

Identification

When applying for low-income housing, you must bring a valid photo ID, a Social Security card, landlord contact information for the past five years and a visa or green card if you're not a U.S. citizen.

Employment Information

You need to provide contact information for your current employer and documents showing any unemployment, retirement or Social Security benefits you receive.

Financial Information

Provide your bank account information and proof of any income you receive from investments, property or legal settlements.

Application Appointment

Once you have all the necessary documentation, contact OHFA or your local housing authority for an appointment. You will then submit all your information and a housing counselor will help you complete the application process.
