Breast Reduction From Herbs

Overly large breasts can cause a number of complications, both physical and emotional. Pendulous breasts can stretch the skin; cause neck, back and shoulder pain; and result in poor posture. Large breasts may attract unwanted attention and cause embarrassment to some women. There are a number of methods for reducing the size of the breasts, including surgical breast reduction and natural methods that include exercise and diet along with herbal supplementation.

Evaluate

Before embarking on any method of breast reduction, it is a good idea to honestly evaluate your motives. Look at your body as dispassionately as possible and evaluate both your good points and bad points. Set goals regarding what you want your body to look like. Determine factors, physically, mentally and emotionally, that will have to change in order to reach those goals.

Investiate

Once you've decided that breast reduction through herbal supplementation is the right process for you, thoroughly investigate the claims of any product you wish to use. Keep in mind that these supplements fall under the category of food supplements and as such are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the same way as conventional foods or over-the-counter medications. Under provisions of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, "the dietary supplement manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that a dietary supplement is safe before it is marketed." They do not have to register their products with the FDA, and the FDA does not approve these products. The FDA only gets involved once a food supplement product that is already on the market is deemed "unsafe."

Consult

Consult with your health care provider regarding the efficacy of any herbal supplement, including those that claim breast reduction properties. You should also discuss the benefits that may accrue from combining herbal supplementation with a regular exercise program and a healthy diet that emphasizes fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains along with foods from the entire food pyramid.
