Prevent Breast Calcifications
Calcifications are deposits of calcium in the breast tissue. There are two types of breast calcifications: macrocalcifications and microcalcifications. Macrocalcifications indicate changes due to inflammations, age or injuries. Microcalcifications are smaller and more numerous. They usually don't indicate cancer, but can show precancerous changes. There is really no way to learn prevent breast calcifications, but you can manage them and your risk of cancer.
Instructions
1. Perform a self breast exam at least once a month. The key to preventing problems from breast calcifications is to catch them as early as possible.
2. Get a mammogram annually. This will allow the doctor to diagnose breast calcifications as they form. He can test them to ensure they are not a health concern.
3. Avoid exposure to pesticides, since some have a structure similar to that of estrogen and can act as a hormone in your body. This increases your risk of breast cancer.
4. Eat well and exercise. Adding more fiber to your diet will decrease the amount of estrogen circulating in your body. This may lower your risk of cancer. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day to stay as healthy as possible.
5. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink. Alcohol is a risk factor for developing breast cancer, particularly if you have more than one drink per day.
