Write A Cover Letter For A Medical Imaging Job

Write a Cover Letter for a Medical Imaging Job

A cover letter will either get you in to meet an interviewer face-to-face or wind up in the interviewer's recycle bin, depending on how well you sell your medical imaging skills. You need to stand out to applicant screeners by pointing out in your cover letter a couple of your most marketable medical imaging skills. The following steps will help you write an effective cover letter.

Instructions

1. Write your header details including the person's name to whom you are sending the letter and his address along with a short introduction. Have a description of the medical imaging job for which you applying in hand while writing your cover letter. Select one or two of the strongest parallels of the job description and your skills to include in your introduction.

2. Make sure to identify the title of the position for which you are applying in your introduction. Also make sure to let the company know what you can do for them.

3. Outline on a separate piece of paper (for reference use only) your skills based on the job description's order of importance. Now is the time to toot your own horn. Select all the areas in which you really excel to and make sure to briefly list all areas of certification relating to medical imaging or more specifically radiographs for diagnostic use. If you have worked in other specialized areas such as obstetric and gynecologic sonography, indicate that as well.

4. Write the body of your cover letter. Indicate your interest in the position of Medical Imaging, including where you saw the position listed. This is key, because recruiters like knowing what areas they spend their advertising dollars in and which are producing the best results. Since American Registry of Radiologic Technology registration is required for medical imaging positions, indicate within the body of your cover letter that you have obtained your registration and that it is available for review.

5. Begin a new paragraph stating your best skills and how you will shine above all the rest of the applicants with your hard work ethic and dedication to the job at hand. Be sure to refer to your resume while doing this.

6. Close your cover letter listing your contact number, adding the area code, and thanking the recruiter for his or her time. Check for accuracy to make sure your contact numbers are the same as the ones listed on your resume and that they are valid. Recruiters hate calling a potential new hire only to find out the numbers are incorrect.
