Panasonic Tcp50x1 Uniformity Issues

Uniformity issues include annoying lines across the screen.

The Panasonic Viera TC-P50X1 is a 50-inch, flat-screen plasma television with 720p resolution. It features surround sound and Energy Star energy-saving performance, and it typically receives better than average reviews from both consumers and experts. However, the one not-so-bright spot that has cropped up with this television is the uniformity issue.

Lines

Reviewers at Cnet, which provides technical reviews on consumer electronics, report that in the TC-P50X1 model faint lines are often present, running diagonally across the screen. In August 2009, Cnet reported that Panasonic had addressed the problem, and a sample set manufactured in June of that year no longer showed the lines. However, this uniformity issue may crop up in older TC-P50X1 sets.

Color Accuracy

Experts at The Plasma TV Buying Guide and consumers have noticed that the Panasonic television has issues with color inaccuracy, particularly in its red and green shades. The Plasma TV Buying Guide called the TC-P50X1 color "soft" when trying to reproduce images that are not in high definition. However, the consensus is that the television still delivers a sharp, good-quality picture overall.

Black Levels

Cnet highly praised the P50X1 model's black levels in its review but stated that many users noticed a considerable drop in black level performance during the life of the television. The Plasma TV Buying Guide also made note of this issue in the set's blackness uniformity, adding that it doesn't provide enough depth of shadow.
