Major concerts have large sponsors that help with promotion, tour buses, venues and other travel expenses.
Many organizations and projects need sponsorships to help get them started and to keep them operating successfully. Nonprofit organizations usually require an ample amount of financial help to get major events off the ground. Sports teams and bands need help with finances for travel and touring. All of these costs can add up quickly, so sponsorships from major companies are needed to make an important event successful.
Instructions
1. Make a list of all the major companies that you think would be interested in being associated with your cause, event, sport or band. Use the computer, phone book, billboards or television to help you develop an extensive list.
2. Establish a goal of how much money or product you need from a major sponsor in order for your endeavor to be successful. Break down these figures and decide how many major sponsors you will need.
3. Write a cover letter describing your organization and why you need a major sponsorship. In the cover letter, give the dates of your event(s), what audience you intend to reach and a description of your goals.
4. Create a pamphlet that has extra details about the things you mentioned in your cover letter. Include a detailed list of the different levels of sponsorship. Create about five levels and include the benefits the sponsors will receive for their investments.
5. Mail the packets to all of the companies and hand-deliver the packets to companies that are near you. Allow yourself time when you hand-deliver the packets to talk to people if they want to ask questions.
6. Follow up the next week by calling all of the companies to which you sent packets. Ask if the packet was received, if there are any questions and if the company is interested in a sponsorship. If the company did not receive a packet, send another one.
