Broadcasters' average annual salary was $40,410, as of May 2008, according to the BLS.


Salary Range


The lowest paid 10 percent of broadcasters received salaries around $15,500, while the highest paid 10 percent earned $75,750 in 2008.


Largest Employers


The largest employers of broadcasters as of May 2008 were radio and television stations and cable programming, paying average salaries of $39,160 and $53,100, respectively.


Highest Paying Employers


In 2008, some of the highest paying employers of broadcasters were motion picture companies, spectator sports and promoters of events. Broadcasters working in these fields averaged between $53,100 and $94,940.


Highest Paying Areas


In May 2008, the states with the highest paid broadcasters were: New Jersey, $58,750; Washington, $54,510; Utah, $52,990; Massachusetts, $51,150; and New York, $50,690.
