Radiologic technologists work with patients to diagnose and treat illness through the use of radiology. According to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, careers in the field include work in mammography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging. It is important that radiologic technologists be educated in general anatomy as well as the specifics of radiology. Radiology courses are offered at several schools in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania College of Technology awards an associate of applied science in radiology that can be completed in four semesters, though it is recommended that students complete the work over six semesters due to the demanding nature of the program. The curriculum includes instruction in radiographic theories and procedures, anatomy and physics. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art radiology equipment, allowing students to learn hands-on in their laboratory courses. In addition to classroom work, clinical rotations take place at local healthcare facilities.

Northampton Community College
The associate of applied science degree in radiology at Northampton Community College can be completed in 21 months. Students complete general education courses, such as English, and major-specific courses that include fundamentals of radiologic sciences and pathology for radiographers. Clinical rotations take place in the academic break between fall and spring semesters, and in the summer session. Northampton Community College offers a separate 64-unit associate degree program for radiographers who are currently certified.

Community College of Allegheny County
Community College of Allegheny County offers an associate of science degree in radiation therapy technology. The 76-credit degree program specifically prepares students to treat patients with malignant tumors. Courses in the curriculum include radiation physics and protection, fundamentals of radiation therapy and radiobiology. Students partake in clinical experiences between the first and second years of study, and in the summer following the second year. A certificate program in radiation therapy technology is also offered and consists of 36 credits.
