Look to the Emergency Nurses Association for grants and scholarships.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the United States is expected to experience a nursing shortage by 2025. In part to counter this projected problem, several private organizations have created grant and scholarship programs to assist students in paying for nursing school. These programs provide a variety of awards, all of which can be the key to earning a nursing degree.
Nursing Education Research Grants Program
The National League for Nursing (NLN) provides grant money through its Nursing Education Research Grants Program. Money is awarded for research that advances nursing science and education. The NLN favors projects that reflect one or more of the organization's priorities. These include innovation in nursing education, evaluation research in nursing education and development of the science of nursing education. New and experienced researchers get anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on their proposal.
AfterCollege/AACN Scholarship
This scholarship program is the product of a partnership between After College, a nursing employment website and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).
