Symptoms of Shingles Disease
Shingles is an infection caused by the same virus as chicken pox. Anyone who had this childhood illness may develop shingles later in life. According to the Mayo Clinic, shingles can be excruciatingly painful. If you have this condition, you may have a range of symptoms.
Fever & Headache
The first sign is often fever and a headache. This can be caused by other illnesses but if it is shingles, it will be followed by other symptoms.
Numbness
Numbness, tingling or pain on one side of your body or your face can signal shingles.
Rash
A rash is the most recognizable characteristic of this illness. It usually presents within two to five days after the pain and numbness begin.
Blisters
Filled with fluid, the blisters soon break open and scab over, much like chicken pox.
Itching
Itching is also characteristic of shingles. Generally the shingles virus itches less but is more intensely painful than chicken pox, according to the Shingles.com.
