Louisiana Technical College was founded in 1930 at the original campus in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Louisiana Tech University was founded in 1894 in Ruston, Louisiana. With a student population of around 11,000, the University offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in a number of programs. The University has several colleges including the College of Business, the College of Applied and Natural Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Engineering and Science, and the College of Liberal Arts.

MedVance Institute
The MedVance Institute,founded in 1970 in Cookeville, Tennessee, focuses solely on health care training and has eleven training programs. MedVance Institute has ten campuses in the United States, including one in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The school offers Associate of Applied Science degree training for allied health fields including emergency management specialists, biomedical technicians, medical assistants, pharmacy technicians, practical nurses and sterile processing technicians.

Ayers Career College
The Ayers Career College was founded in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1953 and offers training in high demand careers like Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing and Coding Specialist and HVAC-R technician. Classes are offered during the day and at night to accommodate working professionals looking to earn additional certifications.
